Philippine High School for the Arts

The Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA) is a public, secular, non-profit school established in June 11, 1977 through Presidential Decree (PD) 1287. The Department of Education implements its programs together with the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

PHSA combines general secondary education with a special arts curriculum to develop exceptionally-gifted future artists and leaders. These students are expected to drive "the preservation, enhancement and promotion of the Filipino heritage through culture and the arts" when they graduate.

Every year, PHSA accepts only a select group of freshman students into their school, through a rigorous screening proces that aims to identify the highly-talented students. Once accepted, students live in relative seclusion at the National Arts Center, where PHSA is located, to focus in honing their craft to the fullest.
