Mt. Makiling, Botanical Garden Get a Boost

Another business entity recognizing its corporate responsibility. Isuzu Philippines goes into eco-friendly mode for its 13th anniversary by launching its Adopt-A-Forest Project in 13 hectares of the fabled Mt. Makiling. This area of the forest will be planted with 13 tree species in the span of three years.

Soon, a proliferation of native trees such as Guijo, Narig, Gisok-gisok, Yakal, Almond, Hagukhok, Apitong, Bagtikan, Dalingdingan, Palosapis, Red and White Lauan, Saplungan, and Panawi, will rise in the area and add more greenery and mystic to the mountain of legends.

Mt. Makiling is named after Maria Makiling, an "encantada" or local fairy said to be constantly guarding and roaming the forests therein. A particular view of the mountain makes it uncannily look like a woman in a reclining position, which natives say is Maria Makiling herself.

Isuzu will also begin construction of a 1.3-kilometer walkway within the Makiling Botanical Garden in the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. A welcome marker has earlier been provided by the company, together with tree labels and message boards aimed at forest preservation.

Great moved by Isuzu Philippines. I think is it about time for private companies to support this kind of eco-friendly movement, anyway, this can be a good promotion for their company at the same will benefit the many.
